Broadband upgrade for 8,000 Barnet Homes residents
Faster and more reliable broadband is being installed throughout Barnet that will make the borough’s network among the speediest of any in Europe.
Around 8,000 households managed by Barnet Council’s social housing provider Barnet Homes will be included in the installation, which will also cover many other households in the borough.
The roll-out is part of Openreach’s £15billion commercial investment in upgrading the UK’s telecommunications network.

Cabinet approves plans to introduce household food waste collection service
Barnet Council’s Cabinet approved plans (3 March) to introduce a food waste collection service to all households across the borough by the end of March 2026.
The service is already being offered to schools and businesses in Barnet.
Barnet Council saves £1.2 million through Damage to Highways scheme
Barnet Council’s Damage to Highways scheme has saved the council over £1million since its launch in 2020, allowing the council to recoup the cost of repairing damage to pavements caused by building works.
Originally launched as a pilot scheme in four wards back in September 2020, the Damage to Highways scheme was expanded to cover the entire borough in July 2023.

Eleven of Barnet’s most inspiring women and girls have been recognised in a council-backed awards programme at Hendon Town Hall, Thursday, 6 March 2025.
For the second year running the awards were given out for outstanding contributions and accomplishments in the fields of business, sport, environment, and community and culture.
