A great borough to live in and visit

This theme relates to the promotion of Barnet’s social and visitor infrastructure.
To ensure that Barnet can accommodate future growth while remaining a great place to live, the council will deliver the schools, leisure, health and community facilities that are needed to support new and existing populations.
We will also ensure that the potential from growth is maximised and that Barnet becomes an even better-known place to visit.
As a visitor destination Barnet has many existing regionally recognised strengths, and we will firstly work with partners to provide an enhanced offer around the existing destinations.
Our objectives for a great borough to live in and visit
Deliver social infrastructure to support growth
Ensure that schools and leisure, health and community facilities are delivered to support areas of growth and regeneration.
Get the best out of the borough’s green assets
Improve the quality of parks and open spaces and address deficiencies to support new homes and ways of living; to maximise the opportunity for improved health and wellbeing.
Grow the visitor economy
Encourage, support and promote our leisure and hospitality sector to deliver a great experience for visitors as well as residents, including by strengthening Brent Cross as a regional or national destination.
Provide a broader canvas for creative industries
Ensure closer engagement with creative sectors, alongside support for new local leisure and cultural destinations.
