We have invested £5million into upgrading Silkstream Park and Montrose Playing Fields - the green avenue between Colindale and Burnt Oak.
Silkstream Park playground
The work has been funded primarily through developer contributions towards the infrastructure of the borough, but we have also received the following cash injections towards the project:
- £324,000 from the Mayor of London’s Green Capital grant
- Nearly £80,000 from the Environment Agency Water Environment Improvement Fund
- £113,000 from the London Marathon Trust.
We would like to thank you to everyone who has contributed towards the costs of this project. Your contribution has helped transform two parks into amazing locations that can be enjoyed by all of our residents.
The parks are due to open very soon, so please keep checking this page for all of the latest updates.
For now, please allow us to share with you some of the work we've done so far.
We've already been able to reopen large chunks of Silkstream Park. You can see its new playground in the pictures above. But there's lots more to come, to add to the areas of the parks that are already open. Please see below for some more pictures:

The new wetland area in Silkstream Park will fill with water whenever the Silk Stream Brook bursts its banks, reducing the risk of flooding to nearby properties during heavy rain.
