Commemoration for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
A Service of Commemoration for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was held this evening, Sunday 18 September, at St Mary’s Church in Hendon followed by a minute’s silence observed at Hendon Town Hall.
The service was conducted by the Vicar of Hendon and Area Dean of Barnet Reverend Dr Julie Gittoes with the Worshipful Mayor of Barnet Cllr Alison Moore and Representative Deputy Lieutenant Mr Martin Russell also paying tribute.
Following the service, attendees made their way to Hendon Town Hall where a one-minute silence at 8pm, opened and closed by the firing of maroons, was observed along with local residents.
The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Cllr Alison Moore, said:
“It has been a huge honour to be able to lead the Borough’s moving tributes to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II given this evening and throughout the past week or so.
“I have had the opportunity to speak to lots of residents, young and old, from different backgrounds over the past ten days and know just how much she meant to so many.”
Representative Deputy Lieutenant, Mr Martin Russell, said:
“It has been a great privilege to serve under Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This evening’s service and the Silence afterward enabled many to pay their own tribute locally. God Save The King.”
