Bus Stop Bypasses
Received: 6 February 2025
I am writing to request some information under the freedom of Information Act in terms of Bus Stop Bypasses. The Mayor of London has said 'Transport for London (TfL) published a review of Bus Stop Bypass safety in May 2024 and found that there were 61 locations on borough roads where existing Bus Stop Bypasses do not fully comply with TfL's bus stop design guidance. TfL is working with the relevant boroughs to support them to upgrade the bus stops at those locations and design work is progressing. This is an ongoing programme and the number of sites that will be improved specifically in 2024/25 is not yet confirmed, as it is dependent upon a borough's capacity to design and deliver the changes required. Bus Stop Bypasses and boarders are usually delivered as part of a wider scheme which is assessed as a whole. As a result, TfL does not record the number of individual new Bus Stop Bypasses and Bus Borders associated with each new cycleway delivered by the boroughs; however, TfL ensures that the relevant design guidance is being followed as part of approving funding, taking into account the findings of the review.'https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/questions-mayor/find-an-answer/bus-stop-bypassesbus-boarders-1 .Can you confirm which bus stop bypasses, if any, do not meet TfL bus stop guidance in your borough? .If such bypasses exist, can you confirm what work you have been doing with TfL to make them compliant and when you expect to achieve compliance? .What records, if any, do you have on the number and location of bus stop bypasses and bus boarders in your borough. Please provide details of the records you hold. .Has the borough undertaken its own audit to confirm which of their bus stop bypasses and bus boarders comply with TfL guidance? Please provide a copy of any such audit. .What new bypass/boarders are being introduced in 24/25 or 25/26 using Local Implementation plan funding? funding?
