New and East Barnet is a place of rich architectural history and heritage. It has a variety of faith organisations, open spaces and buildings which will be featured in the London Festival of Architecture 2025. Please come and join us on our fourth annual Faith and Peace Walk on Thursday 19th June 2025, to explore some of these amazing open spaces and places of worship beginning at 4pm (BST) from Christ Church, Cockfosters. Please arrive at Cockfosters Underground station a few minutes before 4pm and you will be directed to the starting point.
The walk will be divided ino regular stops so you can join at any point and stay with the group walkers as long as you can, to view the host venues and use facilities. We want to reimagine our beautiful world free of pollution, full of healthy choices, with people coming together and inspired to make a difference. There will be plenty of opportunitiy to ask questions in a safe environment and take away ideas to lead a more sustainable lifestyle as part of Clean Air Day 2025 and Barnet Climate Action Month.
Everyone is welcome, but please let us know if extra support is needed. You can join or leave the walk whenever you want but for a shorter walk you can join at 6pm from Lyonsdown Hall which will be open from 5.30pm for those who want to take a rest before continuing the walk. There will be a finale event at Brookside Methodist Church from 7-8pm where we will be hearing from different voices (faiths and other communities) about what sustainability means to them, how they talk about it and what they are doing. We will also consider the important (and changing) role of community buildings in shaping and enabling community and nature health.
You do not have to be of a specific faith or belief to attend.
Children under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Full details of the walk route and venues will be available on the day.
Please note that filming and photography will take place throughout the day and consent will be assumed by attendance. If you do not want to be in the images just let one of the stewards know on the day.
Your registration details may be shared with the venues you will be visiting. For registration purposes only, your name and contact details are essential. All other details are to help with organisation and support for attendees.
