New Beginning serves people from Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, Camden and Islington who are undergoing an acute mental crisis in their lives. Young people between 13 and 18 years of age are referred by CAMHS consultants from the boroughs within the project. It is a residential unit focused on stabilising the condition in order for that person to be supported back in the community or another specialist service. The average stay is 6 weeks. Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust provides the service which is funded by health. A school is attached and funded by the LA.
