Turnaround programme

The aim of the Turnaround Programme is to prevent young people (10 to 17 years) becoming involved in crime or anti-social behaviour by offering support to young people and their families.
Only young people who have been arrested recently or are coming to notice of the police can be referred to the programme.
Children aged 10 to 17 years at the time of referral who are eligible for Turnaround must fit one or more of the following criteria:
- Have come to notice of agencies with enforcement powers for repeated involvement in anti-social behaviour
- Involved in anti-social behaviour who have received: Community Protection Warning/Notice (CPW/N); Acceptable Behaviour Contract (ABC); Civil Order for ASB
- Interviewed under caution following arrest or subject to a criminal investigation attending a voluntary interview
- Are subject to No Further Action (NFA) decision
- Are subject to a Community Resolution
- Receiving a first-time youth caution, not including conditional caution
- Released under investigation (RUI) or those subject to pre-charge bail (PCB)
- Discharged by a court
- Acquitted at court; and/or
- Fined by a court.

- Front door arrangements/ Early Help
Things a Turnaround Engagement worker could support with
- Help to feel safe in the local community
- Education, employment, and apprenticeships
- Engaging in positive activities such as sports and music
- Worries about drugs or alcohol
- Relationship difficulties
- Knowing your rights
- Worries or concerns around health and wellbeing.
What happens next
- The Turnaround Engagement worker will come and visit - this could be in the community or at home
- We will find out more about you or your young person and how we may be able to help you
- We will look at what needs to happen next
- We will support you and your young person to make this happen.
