Are you 16 or 17 years old and homeless or at risk of becoming homeless?

What to do if you need help:

Out of hours

Call the Family services Emergency Duty Team on 020 8359 2000 (after 5pm, weekends and Bank holidays)

Support offered:

Children's Social Care and Housing will complete an assessment to ensure:

  • You are supported to stay with your family if possible.
  • If you cannot stay with your family, you are supported with somewhere safe to live.

What happens when I contact Barnet to say I’m worried about becoming homeless?

  • You don’t need to be sleeping on the street to contact us. If you are staying at a friend’s or staying somewhere that is not safe because someone has been violent towards you, let us know.
  • You can contact us directly, or you may be referred to us by someone else like your school or college.
  • We will always try to help you to live safely with your family if possible.
  • If you are not able to live with your family, you will be provided with somewhere to live.
  • If you are provided with somewhere to live, an assessment will be completed by Children’s social care (a Social Worker) and housing together to see what you need.
  • Your options will be explained to you by a Social Worker.
  • You will be supported by professionals, depending on what you need.
