If a Blue Badge has expired you must return it to us by post. The badge is the property of Barnet Council.
Blue Badge holder has died
If the Blue Badge holder has sadly passed away, please let us know so we can ensure that the badge is cancelled and that no further contact is made about this in future.
When you contact us, please include the deceased person’s:
- name
- home address
- date of death
- death certificate if it is available
If you are reporting the death, we will also need your:
- name
- email address or address
- telephone number
You can report the Blue Badge holder’s death to us by email: assisted.travel@barnet.gov.uk
You can report their death and/or return the Blue Badge to our postal address.
Next steps
It can take up to 5 working days for us to process and update our records on the deceased Blue Badge holder. We will be in touch once we have updated our records.
Alternatively, you can report the death of a Blue Badge holder using the government's Tell Us Once service.
Cancel a Blue Badge
You can cancel a Blue Badge by returning it to us by post. Please include a covering letter with the following information:
- badge holder’s name
- reason for cancellation
If you cancel a badge we'll cancel it as soon as we get it. We will not issue a replacement.
