What is a proxy vote
A proxy is when you appoint someone to vote on your behalf.
Due to a change in legislation the way you apply for a Proxy vote has changed. Proxy votes can now be applied for online.
For those who cannot apply online paper forms will still be available. Please contact Electoral Services if you require a paper form sent to you on 020 8359 5577 or email ero@barnet.gov.uk
A signature and date of birth will still need to be provided, plus your National Insurance number will now be required.
Further information can be found on the Electoral Commission website.
Who can vote on your behalf as proxy
Anyone can be your proxy as long as they are registered to vote in that type of election. A person can only vote as proxy at the same election for:
- no more than four people
- anyone to whom they are related as spouse, parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child or grandchild
Proxy voters voting at a polling station will need to show their own photographic identification (not that of the elector they are voting on behalf of).

You can return your completed paper proxy vote application form by email to ero@barnet.gov.uk
