Marvellous Makers, Summer Reading Challenge 2024 has now finished
From July to September 2024, children across Barnet took part in ‘Marvellous Makers’, discovered amazing stories and explored their creativity by joining in with fun activities at the library.
Well done to every child who took part in the Summer Reading Challenge and congratulations to all those super readers who completed it by reading six books or more over the summer!
The challenge is now finished but children who missed out can still complete the Summer Reading Challenge online via the official website until 30th September 2024. There you can also find online activities such as games, quizzes and author chats.
Summer Reading Challenge prize draw
Every child who completed the challenge is in with a chance of winning a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9, generously donated by our eBook service provider, OverDrive/Libby.
There will six runner-up prizes of an illustrated hardback copy of Shakespeare’s First Folio featuring all his plays.
The winner will be picked at random and notified by 18 October.

Summer Reading Challenge events
We had a truly Marvellous programme of events this summer, kicking off with our ‘Sign-Up Saturday’ event at the RAF Museum, Hendon. Other highlights over the summer included a packed out visit from children’s author and illustrator Rob Biddulph, a comic book workshop with Beano and Marvel artist Kev F, ‘The Pigeon and the Peacock’ gave a puppetry performance and workshop, we explored art with the ‘Packed Lunch’ arts organisation, created a story with robots and had lots of fun craft activities across our libraries.
