The NHS Eatwell Guide
The Eatwell Guide shows the proportions that different food groups should be as a part of a balanced diet. The guide was produced by the NHS.
Every meal does not need to include all food groups. However, you should aim for balance across the day or week.
Who can use the Eatwell Guide?
The Eatwell Guide applies to almost everyone. This is whether you are at a healthy weight, eat meat or are a vegetarian.
You may need to change the guide to suit your dietary requirements. Check with your GP or dietician if you can follow this guide.
Children and the Eatwell Guide
The Eatwell Guide is not suitable for children under 2.
Children aged 2 to 5 should gradually be eating food groups in the proportions shown on the Eatwell Guide.
