Building work and environmental problems
A range of environmental issues can arise from new developments.
Environmental health and planning work together to manage the impact of new developments on the surrounding environment.
Quite often planning conditions can be introduced to reduce the impact of new developments on the surrounding environment.
We advise on some of the planning conditions required. If you have concerns about environmental issues relating to a new development please contact the Scientific Services Team.
Construction guidelines for householders and developers
Construction sites within Barnet have a minimum responsibility to comply with the general construction site guidelines.
Owner/occupiers are permitted to carry out maintenance and improvements to their own property which may be classed as DIY. Although this work will not normally be governed by the construction site guidelines, they are not expected to cause undue noise nuisance at unsociable hours.
