Who the service is for
There are different ways to get support dependent on your need. Referrals can be made by either yourself or a professional.
If you are worried that a child may be suffering, or may be at risk of harm, you should complete a safeguarding concern referral.
Universal Plus referral pathway
Where there is no need for a full assessment, referrals can be made directly to a Child and Family Early Help Hub, via the Universal Plus form.
Referrals are sent to the relevant Early Help Hub. They offer a range of brief interventions, where 6 to 12 sessions of support can be provided. This may include access to:
- evidence-based parenting programmes
- domestic abuse recovery groups (for children or mothers)
- young person / parent mediation to improve family relationships
- low- level parental conflict work
- targeted group or 1 to 1 work with young people around keeping safe, healthy relationships, self-esteem, as well as supporting families navigate services/signposting
This form is also used to access BICs and MOPAC mentoring.
Please note: Family agreement is required.

Early Help referral pathway
This is when a child/family require a full assessment of their needs and strengths, as well as a clear plan. Alongside a lead professional and a Team Around the Family (TAF). Where there are a range of different needs identified, and generally more than 3 agencies actively involved.
The Early Help Assessment (EHA) allows there to be a coordinated multi agency approach and clear plan. These assessments and plans can remain active for up to a year, but usually less. Family agreement is required, and there should be no safeguarding concerns.
A referral for an Early Help Assessment is via the MASH, using the Early Help Request
Safeguarding
